Six ways to use it
A walkthrough of the actual workflow — from finding a restaurant near you to reading the full nutrition breakdown on a single menu item.
Find restaurants near you
On the dashboard, open Discover Restaurants and pick US Zip Code or Address. US Zip Code uses the original fast lookup; Address accepts any location worldwide — "Berlin, Germany" works as well as a full street address. Drag the radius slider from 1 to 20 miles either way. Deficit Engine geocodes the location and pulls nearby fast-food and chain locations from OpenStreetMap, sorted closest-first.
Hit Find Places and you’ll get up to 12 results with name, address, and distance in miles.
Ingest a restaurant's menu
Found a restaurant you want tracked? Click Ingest AI Data on its card. That queues a background job: an AI model generates realistic menu items for the chain, then estimates full nutrition facts for each one — calories, macros, sodium, sugar, fiber, and serving size.
The card polls the job live, so you’ll watch it move through each state until it’s done.
Browse what you've already scraped
Every restaurant you’ve ingested shows up under Previously Scraped on the home dashboard, with an item count on each card. Type in the search box to filter that list by name, or click a card to open its full menu.
Dial in your macro targets
Inside a restaurant’s menu, three sliders — Max Calories, Min Protein, Max Carbs — filter the item grid in real time. There’s no "apply" button; the list updates as you drag.
Read the full nutrition facts
Click any item card to open its detail view. You’ll see the ingredient description first, then every nutrition field on record — the four headline macros, and below them sodium, sugar, fiber, saturated fat, and cholesterol when a serving size was estimated.
Come back anytime
Everything you ingest is saved to your database, not the browser session. Close the tab, restart the app days later, and every restaurant, menu item, and nutrition record is still exactly where you left it — no re-searching required.
One thing to avoid: don't click Ingest AI Data again for a restaurant already on your list — each run generates a fresh batch of items rather than updating the existing ones, so you'll end up with duplicates instead of refreshed data.
